Mr. Chinmoy Pradip Sharma has represented and advised the Government of India, leading Transnational and Domestic Corporations, Public Sector Enterprises, Banks and Financial Institutions. He has conducted numerous international and domestic arbitrations and dealt with proceedings in Courts for challenge and enforcement of arbitration awards.
As a senior-most category Government Counsel, he represented the Central Bureau of Investigation, Income Tax Department, Customs and Central Excise Department, Armed Forces and Ministries and Departments of the Government of India. He has appeared before the Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court in several landmark cases involving interpretation of complex Constitutional Law issues.
Mr. Sharma has appeared and argued several cases which have been reported in various law reporters, journals and websites as well as in the media. Having handled a multitude of litigation enables him to advise on several complex legal issues and disputes as well as offer value added litigation support and dispute resolution strategies.
Mr. Sharma is being routinely engaged by law firms as well as by clients directly to handle dispute resolution and for legal advice and opinion. He is also providing legal consultancy on white collar investigations, direct and indirect tax evasion proceedings and other violation and enforcement actions.
Mr. Sharma has acted as an Arbitrator appointed by Delhi High Court. He was appointed by Delhi High Court as Local Commissioner for IPR Enforcement Actions on many occasions. He has also been appointed by Delhi High Court as Chairperson of several meetings held for approving Schemes of Amalgamation and Restructuring.
As Counsel for Delhi Legal Services Authority, Mr. Sharma has appeared for and provided legal advice to underprivileged litigants on pro bono basis.

Mr. Sharma has dealt with a wide ranging array of issues and cases. He has worked on with several landmark Constitutional and Public Law cases. He has handled numerous commercial disputes in sectors encompassing Mining, Power, Real Estate and Infrastructure, Aviation, Telecom & Media and Banking. He has also dealt with cases pertaining to Company Law, Intellectual Property Rights (copyrights, trademark and designs), Direct and Indirect Taxation, Competition/ Anti-Trust Law, Environmental Law and Service Law. In addition, Mr Sharma has also worked on Criminal Law issues and Economic Offences/White Collar Crimes.
Specifically in the Telecom & Media sector, Sharma argued a writ petition before Hon’ble Gauhati High Court challenging the Uplinking Policy of the Government of India and obtained directions from the Hon’ble Court to fill the loopholes in Policy and secure the interests of the licensees and applicants. He has also handled several cases relating to passive telecom infrastructure. In addition, he has worked on several telecom cases before the Supreme Court of India and TDSAT during his stint with the Chamber of Mr. Goolam E. Vahanvati. He has also handled various cases on media and entertainment law issues.
Besides routinely representing clients and being engaged to argue cases, Mr. Sharma has vast experience in drafting pleadings for civil and criminal cases. He is well known for providing legal advice and opinions with emphasis on in depth analysis and thorough research. He is regularly consulted for strategic inputs on pending disputes and proposed legal actions.
He has expertise in conducting civil and criminal trials including preparation of witness statements, guidance on witness testimony and cross-examination.
The forums of practice include Supreme Court of India, Delhi High Court and other High Courts as well as Tribunals and Commissions such as NGT, TDSAT, APTEL, COMPAT, CESTAT, ITAT and Competition Commission.

Mr. Sharma was closely associated with Late Mr. Goolam E. Vahanvati, former Attorney General for India. He worked with Late Mr. Vahanvati when he was the Solicitor General of India and later the Attorney General for India.
Mr. Sharma represented the Government of India and various Public Sector Enterprises before the Supreme Court of India and various High Courts. He also represented State Governments such as Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Mizoram and Chhatisgarh in matters before the Supreme Court of India.
Mr. Sharma was involved in providing advisory assistance to the Government of India on various proposed legislations, amendments and framing of policies. He prepared various advisory opinions on issues such as sale of assets of Daewoo Motors in India, increase of height of Narmada Dam and rehabilitation of Project Affected Families, setting up of Metro in Bangalore, disputes relating to setting up of power projects, disputes relating to launch of satellites and interpretation of Mining Policy of the Government of India.
After setting up his private practice, Mr. Sharma continued to represent the Government of India as a Senior Panel Counsel on a case to case basis till 2011.

Mr. Sharma handled all types of commercial litigation before Supreme Court of India, the High Court of Delhi and various Commissions and Tribunals. Mr Sharma had the opportunity to conduct many domestic and international arbitrations which lead to arbitration becoming one of his areas of keen interest. He was also assigned with extensive civil and criminal trial work in the District Courts of Delhi.
Mr Sharma was regularly entrusted with the task of independently drafting pleadings and representing clients in court proceedings including conducting final hearings. In addition, he undertook corporate advisory work as well as drafting corporate/ commercial deeds and agreements and preparation of corporate documentation.
