Degree in Law, Faculty of Law, University of Lisbon (1968). Admitted to the Portuguese Bar (1971) and to the Mozambique Bar (1968-1970 and 1997-2013).
Vice President of the Portuguese Bar Association (1992-1998). Country representative in the C.C.B.E. (1992-1998). President of the Mediation and Arbitration Centre of the National Liberal Professions Council (2001).
International arbitrator, mediator and special advisor of the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR) the international division of the American Arbitration Association (AAA). International arbitrator of the ICC ( International Court of Arbitration) and of the LCIA (London Court of International Arbitration). Member of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators of London and founding member of the Portuguese Arbitration Association. Also part of the arbitrators lists of the Arbitration Centre of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CAC), of the CIMA ( Corte Civil and Mercantil de Arbitrage, Madrid), of the CACM ( Mozambique Centre of Mediation and Arbitration) and of the ARBITRARE (Portuguese Arbitration Centre for Intellectual Property).
Member of the Commission established in 2000 by the Ministry of Justice of Portugal to study the implementation of ADRs and member of the Jury designated for the selection of Judges and Mediators for Peace Courts in Portugal.
Member of the Club Español del Arbitraje, the International Bar Association, the Union Internationale des Avocats, the American Bar Association and the American Association for Justice Education( ex. Association of Trial Lawyers of America- ATLA).
Author of various articles in Portuguese and English language publications on matters of Corporate Law, Contract Law, Procedural Law, Insurance, Insolvency, Arbitration and Mediation.
