Profile Overview
Robin R. David is a partner with Dua Associates and is a litigation lawyer with over 30 years experience. He specialises in civil and commercial dispute resolution. He has worked extensively on matters related to corporate laws, mining law, anti-corruption laws, competition law as well as arbitration. He regularly appears before the Supreme Court of India, Delhi High Court, arbitral tribunals and other forums. He has handled complex commercial and arbitration cases as lead counsel. He has been appointed as amicus curiae by the Supreme Court in some matters. Robin played a key role in drafting the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008.
Robin is on the panel of arbitrators of the Nani Palkhivala Arbitration Centre, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, SAMA, and the Indian Institute of Arbitration & Mediation. He was elected to the Governing Council of the Indian Council of Arbitration. He is a panel advocate of the Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee, and he provides pro bono services at the Delhi High Court. He has been a speaker in conferences and seminars on civil procedure, arbitration, anti-corruption laws, professional ethics, and human rights.
Robin is a member of the Supreme Court Bar Association, Delhi High Court Bar Association, International Bar Association, Bar Association of India, Indian Society of International Law, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), American Bar Association, Advocates International, Indian Law Institute, Indian Council of Arbitration, and Fellow of Prime Dispute, UK. He is Chairperson of The Centre of Bioethics, Delhi.
Robin holds a degree in Physics from Loyola College, Madras and a Bachelor of Laws degree from Government Law College, Coimbatore. He is a Registered Foreign Lawyer of Singapore International Commercial Court.
He has represented various statutory bodies including the Competition Commission of India, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and Delhi Urban Art Commission. Recently, he successfully argued before the Supreme Court in the leading case on the application of Limitation Act on insolvency proceedings (B.K Educational Services vs. Parag Gupta & Associates).
